Did you know the fact that the largest age group who died from the atomic bombing on August 6, 1945 in Hiroshima was the first-year students of middle schools, who were 13 or 14 years at that time. They left for the center of the city very early that morning (between 7 to 5 a.m.) in order to contribute their labor to the nation according to the orders made by the local military forces. In those days, these activities were called “Student Mobilization Workforce”.
Thus, when the bomb exploded and the city became a sea of fire, their parents ran out to the burning city, searching for their beloved children. Some found their beloved ones burned and injured to the extent that the fathers or mothers could hardly recognized them from their appearances. Some found them already dead. Others did not know anything about what happened to their children and lost them forever. We believe the grief and agony of these parents may be shared by anybody around the world.
